Wow! This was perfect for me today! I had a challenge and prayed for Jesus' help and surrendered myself to Him. Thank you, Jesus, for all the blessings You shower on me, a poor sinner. I am humbled and grateful for Your love.
"He that loveth his life shall lose it and he that hateth his life in this world keepeth it unto life eternal."
I've been in this "hateth his life" mode for the last week. I just get tired of the world pretty quick these days. I can't say I really understand what Jesus is saying in this Gospel, but it seems that those who hold onto earthly things as the "be all, end all" will lose eternal life. Still, I don't feel good hating this life all the time. Where is the happy medium?
Great question. Reminds me that Jesus himself threw a fit among the temple moneychangers and was not at all nice to the pharisees and Sadducees. Maybe there is no happy medium. We’re called to be all in for and with Christ Jesus, and His Holy Spirit will give us strength to endure and joy to keep our shiny sides up.

Today's Gospel talks about "hating this world":
"He that loveth his life shall lose it and he that hateth his life in this world keepeth it unto life eternal."
